What is Jira? Quick Guide in Infographic

Quick Guide to What is JIRA

What is Jira?

Jira software is a program used for task, project, and resource management. Atlassian, an Australian company, introduced Jira in 2002. The product inspiration came from the second word of the Japanese “Gojira”, which is also known as Godzilla in that language. As told by the source, the term “Bugzilla” was taken from a slang term employed by Atlassian developers to refer to the bug-tracking software that was previously used within the company.

What is Jira used for?

Jira Software is a crucial tool for task management. A task planner and bug and issue tracker were the initial purposes for creation. Jira can be used by project management teams, software development teams, DevOps teams, product management teams, task management, and bug tracking in Agile methodologies. In our article about resource planning in Jira, we wrote for whom Jira could be useful.

Jira has 4 different types: Jira Software, Jira Align, Jira Core (renamed to Jira Work Management), Jira Service Desk (renamed to Jira Service Management).

What are the key benefits of using this Atlassian tool?

Visibility, prioritization better productivity, and many solutions for different types of businesses. Look at the Agile Scrum board or Agile Kanban board, Next-Gen, or Roadmaps.
